PASHA Is Your Next R&B Obsession

One of the more saturated genres in our modern music landscape is the ever-shifting world of R&B. Most often made with deep emotional ties reminiscent of blues, over complex rhythmic structures and beats, this genre is still filled with life despite its 1940s genesis. Amongst the many R&B acts debuted in 2024, PASHA is a soulful singer and songwriter you just can’t miss going into the new year.
Born in Queens and raised in both East Atlanta and Haiti, Chloe Constant’s life analog of sounds and experiences is beautifully diverse and clearly reflected in her music. At age fifteen she began songwriting, now eight years later her melodies touch thousands of listeners under the pseudonym PASHA. Still developing her craft, Constant sings and plays guitar while honing in on her production abilities, crafting beats and recording vocals.
Constant works closely with fellow musician and friend Antonio Parker who inspires her to create and produces most of her music. The gentle atmosphere of each track, even with multiple vocal layers, depends heavily on the production that Parker and Constant come together on.
“I believe in people being the sum of their inner circle, and being close to someone who pursues growth and creativity everyday the way he does has been so inspiring for me,” expressed Constant. With the help of her inner circle and access to music software, PASHA exists in the underground scene like an undiscovered Solange. There is much in store for Constant as a vocalist, largely because jazzy and well produced R&B will always be in demand, but also due to Constant’s interests in other genres.
“I dip my toe in some more dancey house-inspired vibes every now and then too. I’m still exploring my sound and finding myself though,” explained Constant. Airy vocals over a buzzing house beat can be hard to come by and will continue to turn heads within the music world.
Currently, Constant is faced with the developing her image as her sound gains more traction and following. With a large number of musicians committing heavily to the use of social media to gain a fan base, Constant is growing her career in a highly saturated environment of artist exposure.
“Overall, I like to think of tech and social media as my friend. I’m on the more introverted and shy side, so I’ve had to overcome some anxieties about putting myself out there online,” acknowledged Constant. “But it’s proven fruitful. The landscape of music is constantly changing, and I feel like I’d be doing myself a disservice if I didn’t embrace it.”
Constant continues to build a specific aesthetic and sound for her project that is very feminine and modern despite her timeless voice. Like so many songwriters, the process of turning ideas and feelings into sound can be complex.
“If something sticks, I usually know right away, but other times it takes me months to warm up to something I’ve written,” described Constant. Hopefully, the creative energy will flow and bring a full album to fans soon.
At the moment, listeners can sound track their life with tunes like “Silver Screen,” Constant’s most recent release in her series of singles that make up the first year of the PASHA project. Now is the chance to show your friends that you have your finger on the pulse of modern R&B and neo soul before Constant takes to bigger stages.
