This monthly mix is a shameless plug to an online music blog called START TRACK. This blog slash record label is a friend started group dating back to 2011. For all those on the never ending search for new music START TRACK has got you covered. One exciting aspect of the publication is a playlist series featuring artists with under 500 monthly listers. START TRACK groups their playlist by genre and with a good deal of specificity. Submission based sourcing provides an exciting array of music from all parts of the world and helps small artists spread the music they love.

Focus on production lends the genre to blend well with fringes of Hip Hop and Wave music as well. This list is perfect for laying in the grass, cloud watching or working on an art project.

RIDE INDIE WAVES

With a clear love of indie music amongst the writers over at START TRACK, “ride indie waves” brings music that washed over you like a warm summer breeze. This starry mix brings you the calm indie music that will make your life feel like a coming of age film. While indie or indie rock comes as an abbreviation of independent, this playlist is sure to highlight the more wavy and homemade side of independent music. EMO

EMO- an exciting abbreviation of “emotional” is characterized as often revealing or confessional lyrics over heavier instrumentation. SHOEGAZE

The term Shoegaze has a similar definition to Dream Pop, but with more grunge at it’s heart. The experimental and filter heavy sound provokes anything from headbanging to tears. Within Shoegaze you will find echoing reverb, distorted guitars. The term and genre seem to have emerged in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s in Britain. This list is perfect for grinding through an assignment, cleaning your apartment or a heavy lift at the gym.
