Fashion Lovers Unite: Color of Fashion Presents Season IV Mélange
How This Emerging Designer Is Prepping For Her Debut Showcase
Denver, are you ready? Season four of the Color of Fashion runway showcase is officially here. After months of anticipation, fashion lovers from all around The Mile High City and beyond will reunite for four unique fashion-filled experiences starting on September 26 through September 29.
If you aren’t familiar with Color of Fashion already, this fashion and culture-centered non-profit organization was created to pioneer change in the fashion industry. Founded by visionary Black female entrepreneurs Samantha Joseph and Alicia Myers, Color of Fashion produces annual runway shows presenting designs from BIPOC designers.
When we started CoF we had no idea the lengths it would reach. We started this organization to create change and bring the community together for the greater good. Seeing the results of our hard work has been rewarding and it encourages us to keep going,” shared Myers and Joseph. “We have built strong relationships that we cherish. The anticipation for this season is so thick you can cut it with a knife. We are ready to knock everyone’s socks off.”
As their buzziest and longest season yet, The Curio Cabinet team had the privilege to interview this season’s lineup for exclusive designer profiles. The Color of Fashion team curated a group of diverse and talented designers who are eager to make a splash in the Denver fashion scene. Tatiana Flores, the designer behind ChronoCouture, is set to showcase her very first collection on September 28 themed Luxury Never Goes Out of Fashion located at the historic El Jebel ballroom.
[Alicia Myers has] supported and guided me from day one. And I would not reach this level without her,” said Flores.
In describing the inspiration behind her collection, Flores noted that “you don’t need a lot of money to look like a million dollar lady. The only real elegance is in your mind and how you wear your elegance.”
As a talented oil painter with years of experience, Flores has always been passionate about sewing and fashion design. This luxury themed night is giving her the coveted opportunity to showcase her designs for the first time. This is exactly what the Color of Fashion showcase intends to do: amplify artists and designers through a devoted platform of community and creatives. Through her line ChronoCouture, Flores wants show attendees to feel the zest of life and where fashion can take them.
As a self-proclaimed “old-school fashionista,” Flores believes in the power of elegance and beauty, and wants others to fuel their life through what makes them stand out. “Don’t be afraid to look too dressy, too elegant or too out-standing. We only live once. Why not make our life amusing?” she said.
Although this is her first collection, Flores is no stranger to hard work and the growing pains of building a collection. Flores dedicated months and non-stop days to sewing, choosing fabrics that are “just right,” searching for shoes and ordering materials and decor from overseas, among many other tasks designers are faced with when prepping for their debut.
Flores shared her final thoughts before her big night, “After women, only flowers could compete on this Earth. And I want to see each woman be timelessly gorgeous, to see them blooming and passing this message through generations.”
Maybe we are biased, but in the end, we know the Color of Fashion stage is the perfect debut for artists like Tatiana Flores of ChronoCouture.
