Arlo Hotels Was Our Home Away From Home For Fashion Week
In our opinion, the best time to come to New York City is Fashion Week. It’s our Super Bowl, our Holiday season and the mecca of everything we love wrapped into one week. As fabulous as Fashion Week may be, it is taxing. While we spend our days running the streets, we need a place to rest our heads at night to regroup so we can do it all over again in the morning.
Our desires for an ideal place to stay were quite simple. Affordable, clean, stylish, central and with plenty of storage. Lucky for us, Arlo Hotels quite literally checked off all our boxes. Arlo Hotels is a string of unique modern boutique hotels with locations based in Chicago, Miami and New York City. As an ideal home base for the traveling spirits, Arlo Hotels is a haven tucked in the midst of the cities’ chaos.
On this trip, Arlo Midtown became our home away from home. Ranked #14 among the top hotels in NYC by Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards, Arlo Midtown’s offerings are fit for the traveler seeking luxury, accessibility and affordability.
Although we’ve wandered the streets of the Big Apple numerous times before, we are still tourists – and we aren’t afraid to admit it! At the Arlo Midtown location, you are set center stage in some of NYC’s biggest attractions like the Theater District, Times Square and Madison Square Garden to name a few. If you want a night out exploring these household-name attractions, they are all in arms reach.
Upon entering the Midtown-based hotel, you’ll first come by Café at Altair stocked with snacks, beverages, fresh pastries and baked goods. Next, you’ll be greeted by a kind and incredibly helpful front desk staff in a lobby furnished with multiple workspaces, alcoves and lounge chairs. This location proved to be tech-ready and a remote worker’s dream with seven distinct spaces to accommodate your business needs.
Looking for less business and more play? The Altair Restaurant located in the lobby offers a food and beverage experience inspired by the elements of earth, wind and fire. Or if you are looking for a garden oasis in the heart of the city, check out the ART Midtown, the hotel’s premier rooftop restaurant and bar perched 26 stories above the city.
New York City is notorious for small rooms and very few storage selections. While taking the elevator up to our Two-Double room, we held our breath in anticipation to see if this room would hold four girls accompanied by four large suitcases. While the room was snug, it did not lack in functionality. Both beds were full-sized and featured under-bed storage where we could easily fit two large suitcases out of the way. Each bed also had drawers to fit plenty of clothes or belongings. As fashion lovers attending multiple shows, our saving grace was the metal wardrobe stocked with hangers and a full-length mirror.
The Arlo Midtown met all of our needs. The central location allowed us to bounce from show to show seamlessly by walking, taking the subway with easy access to numerous stations nearby or by hailing a cab as a true New Yorker would do.
