A Night in Luxury: Did Color of Fashion Showcase the Best Fashion in Denver?

Six National Emerging and Established Designers Debut at Color of Fashion Season 4

Denver’s best dressed gathered at the historic El Jebel for a night of luxury. On Saturday, September 28, Color of Fashion hosted a grandeur fashion show highlighting six emerging and established designers. This lavish occasion invited guests to mingle over cocktails and complimentary espresso martinis while striking a pose for photo ops before the show.

With much excitement and anticipation, guests were escorted into a beautiful golden ballroom painted with floor to ceiling murals and intricate frescos taking us all back in time. The Color of Fashion audience is no stranger to experiencing different iterations of runways and layouts. In this premier location, chairs lined a catwalk split in two for a dual runway experience.

Zayden Drape De Luxe

Introducing his new collection, “Chaos By A Demure Femme Fatale,” designer Zayden Skipper curated a colorful and sexy collection the 80s wished it had. Models emerged on both runways in bold hues and prints like fuchsia, red and electric green looks. Skipper was not afraid to explore multiple animal prints like snake and cheetah, and so effortlessly brought back zebra print – oh how we missed you! This collection was the epitome of confidence as models stomped down the runway in tight-fitted outfits and bold accessories. Each model looked like a live doll and we couldn’t help but think they were Barbie girls in Zayden’s world. After hitting the runway in bold hot pink zebra and cheetah print dresses, the collection moved down the color wheel to darker and sultry hues like black and red while still including a pop of color and layers of fun. Not only was this collection daring and entertaining to observe, but it also established so many new trends and accessories we cannot wait to try. Our personal favorite was the utilization of over-the-shoe tights in various colors and elbow-length gloves – an elevated touch to each look.

SHYE

New York City-based designer Sunghye Park brought an otherworldly collection Denver has never seen before. As the first presentation of the entire SHYE collection, this gathering of archival and collaborative pieces embraced freedom and the beauty of the natural body. Models emerged in earth-toned futuristic outfits compiled of multiple upcycled textiles like leather, fur, spandex and more. Showcasing men and women’s wear, each piece was expertly structured and transformative with cutout details while some embraced fur and leather trims. Menswear continues to innovate with the help of designers like Park as male models sported several iterations of baggy cargo pants adorned with pockets, leather straps and cutouts. If the Dune movies got a sexy makeover, we’d love to see this collection be first in the running.

ChronoCouture

If you were to ask us to point out a perfect example of a debut collection, we’d point you in the direction of ChronoCouture. This collection was a mystery to us all, as this was the first time designer and artist Tatiana Flores has ever showcased her fashion designs to the public. Flores is used to having her art on display in a different medium such as paintings, however the welcoming crowd was blown away by the mysterious and romantic collection Flores pieced together. The attention to detail was immaculate and showcased the hard and soft sides of women. There was something almost traditional about the silhouettes in the way her painted leather jackets fit the female form or the whimsical swing of the skirts. Flores showcased an outfit for almost any occasion, as long as it rhymed with romance. This large collection also included menswear as a perfect touch. Flores’ debut collection showed us true elegance and for a moment, transported us to a night out on the Parisian streets.

Tristan Blake

Designer Tristan Blake took innovation to a whole new level by utilizing one classic print in his entire collection: houndstooth. Blake showed us what this pattern could truly do and pushed the limits through his delicate choice of draping, textiles and color variation of the houndstooth print. This modern take on the classic print brought preppy and vintage elements that made each piece a dream closet staple for any fashion enthusiast shopping for their fall/winter wardrobe. The houndstooth print appeared in classic black and white along with orange and cream. Blake also included patent leather garments like pants, skirts, boots and gloves to show the juxtaposition of two aesthetics. Tweed also had its moment while bringing multiple garments to life in a beautiful fabric blocked matching skirt and jacket set with delicate chain details and a zipper slit on the skirt.

ADDICTEDTOFITS

Here comes the sea bride all dressed in ADDICTEDTOFITS. This stunning collection by designer Lauren Cooperwood brought us to the coast with several looks that emphasized and captured the flowy and liquid-like movement of beautiful vessels in the sea. The collection started off with white and cream dresses perfect for the minimalist, made out of stretch material. The collection soon introduced sheer summery yellow, blue and red dresses with marabou feather tassels adorning the hem almost to replicate the way an octopus moves. This signature and unique collection reintroduced white and iridescent hues in the form of a coral reef-inspired mini dress with iridescent ruffles and an off the shoulder neckline. The final look stunned the crowd with a jelly-like ruffle train attached to a structured bridal mini dress.

Monday, Blues Studio.

Upcycling fashion brand Monday, Blues Studio. has a knack for storytelling and making conversational pieces. The garments on display brought an East Coast appeal to the ballroom as if we were all witnessing stylish locals walking down the streets of Brooklyn. Each tailored look featured a strong, detailed and refining nature to the structure. Monday Blues, Studio. combined multiple different fabric choices and pattern-blocking skills to create these walking pieces of art. Old burlap coffee bean bags were the main fabric choice for the garments, while additional textiles like sequins, knits and wax denim were sprinkled throughout the collection. As a final treat for the audience, Color of Fashion founders Alicia Myers and Samantha Joseph appeared on the runway in colorful and signature Monday, Blues. Studio looks.

The audience erupted in applause as the final collection made its way down the runway. The lineup for this year’s runway showcase might possibly be the best fashion Denver has seen in a long time.
