Color of Fashion Season 4: ADDICTEDTOFITS

As a self-taught fashion designer, Lauren Cooperwood is used to the pressure behind creating unique pieces. Her journey began with teaching herself how to sew and construct looks. In September, she will showcase a collection under her brand ADDICTEDTOFITS at Color of Fashion’s runway showcase on Saturday, September 28, proving that the obstacles to becoming a designer are worth it.

Inspired by her family’s roots in the Bahama Islands, Cooperwood’s first full runway collection will feature looks with an island essence. She visited the Bahamas often when she was growing up, and is structuring her collection keeping her experiences there in mind. Focusing on light and airy silhouettes as well as coastal textures, the collection will bring a breath of fresh air and sun-smooched looks to the runway.

Cooperwood discovered her love for fashion after moving to Atlanta, where she began working as a wardrobe stylist. She often couldn’t find the pieces she needed for looks in stores and decided it was time to bring her visions to life.

“My first time making a garment was using a needle and thread to attempt to create a look for a shoot. From there, I found that I loved creating ‘a look,’” she said. “I taught myself to sew and created ADDICTEDTOFITS during the first year of the pandemic.”

Starting a brand is no easy feat. At first, Cooperwood was designing and also managing and fulfilling all of her orders. Now, she is grateful to work alongside a team for manufacturing and visual production, who are collaborating with her as ADDICTEDTOFITS undergoes a rebrand.

The new era of ADDICTEDTOFITS is bold and beautiful. For Cooperwood, reframing the brand to focus on the wearer will encourage her customers to look and feel their best in her designs.

“I love creating a look that draws attention and each wearer must be bold to step out in an ADDICTEDTOFITS garment,” she said.

The brand name derives from Cooperwood’s love for fashion and the longevity of her designs. She creates pieces that are destined to draw attention and are meant to leave both the wearer and their admirers craving more.

“Fashion, to me, is ultimately the best way to make a first and lasting impression. If you can think of a time you saw a person you felt was well dressed, there is a sense of wanting to see more of them,” she explained. “People admire a well-dressed person without knowing anything about them. Fashion creates an identity.”

Don’t miss Cooperwood’s mixture of styles and textures as she debuts ADDICTEDTOFITS’ first full runway collection at Color of Fashion. Stay up to date on Color of Fashion Season 4 including tickets on sale and more at www.coloroffashionco.com and on Instagram.
